Ruined
a poem by pete marshall
Walls were built, bards would sing,
rendered words, hardened seams,
rotting beams, timbered dreams,
weed's that grew a wondrous green.
Stones that spoke of many tales,
weathered shrines, holy grail’s,
cracks beneath a plastered veil
lost beyond entangled trails.

I wrote this poem for this weeks One Shoot Sunday, but also felt that it should be aired today. I would like to say a big thank you to each and everyone of you that has been part of One Stop Poetry, cheers Pete
Today is One Shoot Sunday and this stunning image is provided by accomplished photographer Neil Alexander.
Today is One Shoot Sunday, which see's both Adam & Chris wave goodbye. Today has also seen Claudia leave. Earlier this week Brian waved his goodbyes, as I yesterday. Today is a sad day.

your ability to paint with words never ceases to amaze...
beautiful
Lovely poem! So sad everyone is leaving OSP. I hope there is many wonderful ventures out there for everyone. Keep in touch Pete & take care. :)
Great little piece Pete, it is truly a sad day. Keep in touch mate, and thanks for all the hard work you put in we appreciate it so much x
Pete, smooth lines—your signature style for sure. I've said it before, as a lyrical poet, few can match your seemingly effortless flow. What may take others (myself def. included) many revisions, you present with a sense of musicality that makes for hypnotic poetry. Can't wait to read your book! Most importantly, glad we're friends. Cheers, Brother.
Really triggers one's imagination! I can see it all unfolding within my mind's eye! And, your words seem to describe not only the image, but the world we live in today...with the last rays of sunshine glancing across the ruins...Roger
The rhyme was just lovely in this piece Pete. Wonderful write ~ Rose
loved the flow and imagery. great poem
yep that encompasses it well...its got the PM beat to it...thanks bro...and i know we will be seeing each other around...
A small piece about a rich ruined world in lines that beat and sing as always from you, Pete! But I do love the last lines that haunt with your imagery. Thanks for sharing your inimitable beat and the poems you draw from the heart. While I'm sad to know you're leaving, I let you go with hopes of meeting you again and wishes for the best wherever you're going from here.
This is an excellent example of your work, natural, unforced rhyme with a strong message. This has to be a hard time for you all. You will be missed, both individually, and as a team who did so much to encourage others.
Thanks for everything, Pete.
another winner, I am not surprised and hope we will still get to read your work...a book, did I hear? I'll buy it (a signed copy that is - lol ;)
